Joanne's 40th Birthday Party and Workshop
We were invited to join Joanne's 40th birthday party celebrations and provide a workshop for the 30 or so adults and children there. Two of our performers came along and taught Juggling, Diabolo, Poi and plate spinning to all ages and everyone had a great time, and many people learnt new skills and tricks. It was a really fun day and a great idea to liven up her party.
Bonfire Night at Religion!
After the fireworks had died off two Circsoc performers made their way down to Religion, a small night club in Leeds boasting not only spectacular interior decor, but also reasonably priced entry and drinks. An hour and a half of staff spinning and fire breathing drew the attention of many a passerby, and earned us very positive feedback from the Religion staff and other promoters of the night. If this weren't enough the flashing of cameras from the smoking area couple with the ussual shouts of delight punctuating the more dangerous looking tricks act as further proof of another job well done!
Bonfire Night '08
Once again CircSoc's anual Bonfire night performace was fantastic! Loads of our members came along and performed to huge crowds. But first we met in the Old Bar for a little drink, before setting off to Hyde park for the start of the fireworks. We started spinning at around 8 and very quicky got people attention, it was a great chance to use all of our new fire equipment and people loved it. The student news paper came along to take some photos for the paper and we had loads of new interest form people wanting to join the society. We quickly got through our paraffin so it was off to the Pub before heading on to James' house for ring of fire and cheesy chips. Big thanks to Van Der Hoorn for the use of the house and thanks to everyone who came along to make such a great night.

Artsmix
Artsmix is a leeds based social enterprise providing sales and development platforms for arts and crafts projects. On Sunday the 28th October CircSoc helped advertise a fortnightly arts and crafts sale held at The Loft in Leeds. Two performers performed in the street near the venue for a three hour period, attracting passers by and informing them of the art show. The organisers said many customers mentioned the jugglers they had seen. One things for sure, circus skills never fails to attract attention!

We started at Taps, slightly delayed due to a few technical and directional issues from us social secs, and the night began with the annoucing of our two rules for the night, one which included the circus theme song to drive the masses out to the next drinking spot and one which caused everyone to duck down at the sound of 'cawww cawww'.

St Margarets Church Awareness Day
St Margarets Church located on Cardigan Road recently recieved listed status and has undergone redevelopment to return it to its former glory and allow safe public access once again. To increase public awareness of St Margrets two performers were invited to hold a childrens' workshop during the reopening event. The building was an inspiring place to perform within and children as young as 2 enjoyed playing with the circus equipment.
